It is one of the first upgrades made to an engine that is going to have its power increased, because the head gasket is one of the first points to fail.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThey are made of 8740 chrome-moly steel, heat-treated by ARP itself to a tensile strength of approximately 190,000 psi. ARP grinds each stud after heat treatment to ensure it is straight and concentric, and rolls the threads at the end of the process; this achieves a fatigue resistance about twenty times greater than that of a thread made before heat treatment.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eFollow the torque and tightening sequence in the ARP instructions, which are calculated for their assembly lubricant; with engine oil, the actual torque changes.
