ACL Race Series connecting rod bearings for BMW M3 E36 3.0L S50B30
€189,66
ACL Race Series connecting rod bearing set for BMW M3 E36 3.0L S50B30, part number 6B1515H. This is ACL's competition range, the same as the ones installed in drift, circuit, and drag racing engines.
These are tri-metal bearings: a SAE 1010 steel base, a copper, lead, and tin layer of about 0.3 mm, a nickel barrier, and a surface layer of lead, tin, and copper that conforms to the crankshaft surface and resists seizing. In the rod bearings, the surface layer is thinner to better withstand fatigue.
The Race Series have more housing crush and a slightly more eccentric shape than standard bearings, two details designed to ensure the bearing does not move and remains well-lubricated when the block and connecting rod deform under load.
In standard size, ACL specifies this for a connecting rod journal of 49.975 to 49.991 mm, with a bearing width of 18.0 mm. For that diameter, an oil clearance of about 0.053 to 0.063 mm is recommended, measured with a micrometer and bore gauge. If the crankshaft has been reground, the measurement changes.
They do not have the silver tin final plating of standard bearings, so their dark color—ranging from brown and black to bluish—is the factory finish and does not indicate any defect. ACL advises against polishing the surface of the bearings to adjust clearance; if more is needed, they are combined with the HX version, which provides 0.025 mm more clearance.
