ACL Race Series main bearings for Audi S3 and TTS 2.0L TFSI (EA888)
€143,07
ACL Race Series main bearings for Audi S3 and TTS 2.0L TFSI (EA888), part number 5M5563H. These support the crankshaft in the engine block and, in a tuned engine, they are responsible for ensuring that oil reaches the entire crankshaft correctly.
Internally, they feature three layers on a high-strength steel backing: a copper-lead-tin lining, a thin nickel barrier, and a lead-tin-copper sliding layer, which is the surface that interfaces with the crankshaft.
The upper shells feature a full 180° oil groove, while the lower shells have a partial groove to avoid restricting oil flow to the connecting rods, with a progressive groove end to prevent pressure spikes. The Race Series bearings have increased crush and a slightly more eccentric shape than standard bearings—two design details intended to prevent the bearing from spinning and to maintain proper lubrication when the block and connecting rods deform under load.
In standard size, ACL specifies them for a crankshaft journal diameter of 57.958 to 57.978 mm, and for this diameter, they recommend an oil clearance of approximately 0.059 to 0.071 mm. If the crankshaft has been ground, the measurement will change.
They do not have the silver-tin flash coating of standard bearings, so their dark, brownish-black-bluish color is the factory finish and does not indicate any defect. ACL advises against polishing the bearing surface to adjust clearance; if more clearance is needed, they should be combined with the HX version, which provides an additional 0.025 mm of clearance.
