ACL Race Series main bearings for Ford 2.0L Cosworth
€124,22
ACL Race Series main bearing set for Ford 2.0L Cosworth, part number 5M2167H. These support the crankshaft in the block, and in a tuned engine, they are responsible for ensuring oil reaches the entire crankshaft properly.
The structure is tri-metal, with a steel backing, copper-lead-tin lining, a nickel barrier, and a soft overlay that conforms and prevents seizing even under very high loads.
The upper bearings feature a full 180° oil groove, while the lower bearings have a partial groove to ensure oil flow to the connecting rods is not restricted, and the end of the groove is tapered to prevent pressure spikes. Race Series bearings have higher crush and a slightly more eccentric shape than standard bearings, both details designed to keep the bearing from moving and properly lubricated as the block and connecting rod deform under load.
In standard size, ACL specifies this for a crankshaft journal of 56.990 to 57.000 mm, and for that diameter, it recommends an oil clearance of approximately 0.059 to 0.070 mm. If the crankshaft has been ground, the measurement changes.
They do not have the silver tin finish of standard bearings, so their dark, brownish-black-bluish color is the factory finish and does not indicate any defect. ACL advises against polishing the bearing surface to adjust clearance; if more is needed, combine them with the HX version, which provides an additional 0.025 mm of clearance.
