ACL Race Series main bearing set for Nissan Navara Diesel 2.5L and 2.7L (TD25, TD27), part number 5M2965H. These bearings support the crankshaft in the engine block, and in a performance-tuned engine, they are essential for ensuring oil properly reaches the entire crankshaft.
The tri-metal structure features a steel backing, a copper, lead, and tin lining, a nickel barrier, and a soft surface layer that conforms and prevents seizing, even under very high loads.
The upper bearings feature a full 180° oil groove, while the lower bearings have a partial groove to avoid restricting oil flow to the connecting rods, with a tapered groove end to prevent pressure spikes. Race Series bearings have increased crush and a slightly more eccentric shape compared to standard bearings—two design features intended to keep the bearing securely in place and properly lubricated even when the block and connecting rods deform under load.
In standard size, ACL specifies them for a crankshaft main journal diameter of 70.907 to 70.920 mm, and recommends an oil clearance of approximately 0.070 to 0.084 mm for this diameter. If the crankshaft has been reground, the required size will change.
They do not have the silver tin finish found on standard bearings, so their dark color—ranging from brown and black to bluish—is the factory finish and does not indicate any defect. ACL advises against polishing the bearing surface to adjust clearance; if more clearance is needed, they should be combined with the HX version, which provides an additional 0.025 mm of clearance.
