ACL Race Series main bearing set for Nissan VK45, VK50, VK56, part number 5M2995H. These bearings support the crankshaft within the block, and in a performance engine, they are responsible for ensuring oil reaches the entire crankshaft correctly.
They feature a tri-metal structure with a steel backing, copper-lead-tin lining, a nickel barrier, and a soft overlay that conforms and prevents seizing even under very high loads.
The upper bearings feature a full 180° oil groove, while the lower bearings have a partial groove to ensure oil flow to the connecting rods is not interrupted, with a tapered groove end to prevent pressure spikes. The Race Series bearings have increased crush and a slightly more eccentric design than standard bearings—two details engineered to keep the bearing securely seated and properly lubricated even when the block and connecting rods deform under load.
In standard size, ACL specifies them for a crankshaft main journal diameter of 63.952 to 63.962 mm, recommending an oil clearance of approximately 0.064 to 0.077 mm for this diameter. If the crankshaft has been reground, these dimensions will change.
They do not have the silver tin top layer found on standard bearings, so their dark appearance—ranging from brown and black to bluish—is the factory finish and does not indicate any defect. ACL advises against polishing the bearing surface to adjust clearance; if more clearance is required, use them in combination with the HX version, which provides an additional 0.025 mm of clearance.
