ACL Race Series main bearings for Suzuki Swift 1.3L, Jimny... (G13), part number 5M8337H. These support the crankshaft in the block, and in a tuned engine, they are crucial for ensuring proper oil delivery to the entire crankshaft.
These are tri-metal bearings: a SAE 1010 steel backing, a copper, lead, and tin layer of approximately 0.3 mm, a nickel barrier, and an overlay of lead, tin, and copper that conforms to the crankshaft surface and resists seizure.
The upper shells feature a full 180° oil groove, while the lower shells have a partial groove to avoid restricting oil flow to the connecting rods; the end of the groove is tapered to prevent pressure spikes. The Race Series have increased crush and a slightly more eccentric design than standard bearings—two features designed to prevent the bearing from shifting and to ensure consistent lubrication even as the block and connecting rods deform under load.
In the standard size, ACL specifies them for a crankshaft journal diameter of 44.982 to 44.994 mm, and for this diameter, they recommend an oil clearance of approximately 0.049 to 0.058 mm. If the crankshaft has been ground, the measurement changes.
They do not have the final silver tin coating of standard bearings, so their dark, brownish-black-bluish color is the factory finish and does not indicate any defect. ACL advises against polishing the bearing surface to adjust clearance; if more clearance is needed, they should be combined with the HX version, which provides an additional 0.025 mm of clearance.
