ACL Race Series connecting rod bearing set for Audi 1.6L, 1.8L, 2.0L (83-01), part number 4B1606H. This is ACL’s competition range, the same as those fitted in drift, circuit, and drag racing engines.

The structure is tri-metal, with a steel base, copper-lead-tin lining, a nickel barrier, and a soft overlay that conforms and prevents seizure even under very high loads. In the rod bearings, the overlay is thinner to better withstand fatigue.

Compared to a standard bearing, the Race range has more crush in the housing, which improves retention and heat transfer, as well as greater eccentricity to promote the oil film when the engine is revving high.

In standard size, ACL specifies this for a connecting rod journal of 47.758 to 47.778 mm, with a bearing width of 19.0 mm. For that diameter, an oil clearance of approximately 0.051 to 0.061 mm is recommended, measured with a micrometer and bore gauge. If the crankshaft is reground, the measurement changes.

They do not have the final silver tin plating of standard bearings, so their dark color—ranging from brown and black to bluish—is factory-standard and does not indicate any defect. ACL advises against polishing the bearing surface to adjust clearance; if more is needed, they are combined with the HX version, which provides 0.025 mm of additional clearance.

Before ordering, confirm the measurement of your crankshaft (standard or reground); if you have any questions, write to us with the engine code.
