ACL Race Series connecting rod bearings for Honda B18A, B20A SOHC (part number 4B1946H), designed for engines that will operate under much higher loads and higher RPMs than stock.

These are tri-metal bearings: SAE 1010 steel backing, a copper-lead-tin layer approximately 0.3 mm thick, a nickel barrier, and a surface overlay of lead, tin, and copper that conforms to the crankshaft surface and resists seizing. In connecting rod bearings, the overlay is thinner to better withstand fatigue.

Race Series bearings feature increased crush and a slightly more eccentric shape than standard bearings, two details designed to ensure the bearing does not move and maintains proper lubrication when the block and connecting rods deform under load.

In standard size, ACL specifies them for a connecting rod journal of 44.980 to 45.000 mm, with a bearing width of 19.5 mm. For that diameter, they recommend an oil clearance of approximately 0.049 to 0.058 mm, measured with a micrometer and bore gauge. If the crankshaft has been reground, the measurement changes.

They do not have the silver-tin final plating of standard bearings, so their dark, brownish-black and bluish color is factory-standard and does not indicate any defect. ACL advises against polishing the bearing surface to adjust clearance; if more is needed, they should be combined with the HX version, which provides an additional 0.025 mm of clearance.

If the crankshaft has been reground or you are unsure of the required size, please contact us with your engine code before ordering.
