These ACL Race Series connecting rod bearings, reference 4B7712H, are for Peugeot TU1JP, TU3JP, TU5J2, TU5J4, XU5J, XU5JP. They are the standard choice when opening an engine for performance upgrades.
The structure is trimetal, featuring a steel back, a copper, lead, and tin lining, a nickel barrier, and a soft overlay that conforms and prevents seizure even under very high loads. On the connecting rod bearings, the overlay is thinner to better withstand fatigue.
Compared to stock bearings, the Race range features increased crush for better seating and heat transfer, as well as greater eccentricity to support the oil film when the engine is revving high.
In standard size, ACL specifies them for a connecting rod journal of 44.975 to 44.991 mm, with a bearing width of 19.75 mm. For that diameter, they recommend an oil clearance of approximately 0.049 to 0.058 mm, measured with a micrometer and bore gauge. If the crankshaft has been ground, the measurements change.
They do not have the silver-tin final plating of standard bearings, so their dark, brownish-black and bluish color is factory-standard and does not indicate any defect. ACL advises against polishing the bearing surface to adjust clearance; if more is needed, they can be combined with the HX version, which provides 0.025 mm of additional clearance.
