These ACL Race Series connecting rod bearings, reference 4B8431H, are for the Suzuki Hayabusa 1299cc. They are the standard choice when opening the engine for performance builds.

These are tri-metal bearings: a SAE 1010 steel backing, a copper-lead-tin intermediate layer of approximately 0.3 mm, a nickel barrier, and a lead-tin-copper overlay that conforms to the crankshaft surface and resists seizure. In connecting rod bearings, the overlay is thinner to better withstand fatigue.

The Race Series bearings feature increased crush and a slightly more eccentric shape than standard bearings, two details designed to prevent the bearing from moving and to ensure proper lubrication when the block and connecting rod deform under load.

In the standard size, ACL specifies them for a crankpin diameter of 37.976 to 38.000 mm, with a bearing width of 17.0 mm. For this diameter, they recommend an oil clearance of approximately 0.043 to 0.051 mm, measured using a micrometer and bore gauge. If the crankshaft has been ground, the measurement changes.

They do not have the silver-tin final plating found on standard bearings, so their dark, brownish-black-bluish color is the factory finish and does not indicate any defect. ACL advises against polishing the bearing surface to adjust clearance; if more is needed, they can be combined with the HX version, which provides 0.025 mm of additional clearance.
