These ACL Race Series connecting rod bearings, reference 6B8466H, are for Toyota and Lotus 2GR-FE V6 3.5L engines (Evora, Exige). They are the standard choice when opening the engine for performance upgrades.
The structure is trimetal, consisting of a steel back, copper-lead-tin lining, a nickel barrier, and a soft overlay that conforms and prevents seizing even under very high loads. On the connecting rod bearings, the overlay is thinner to better withstand fatigue.
Compared to a standard bearing, the Race range features increased crush for better seating and heat transfer, as well as greater eccentricity to improve the oil film at high engine speeds.
In standard size, ACL specifies them for a connecting rod journal of 52.980 to 53.000 mm, with a bearing width of 15.0 mm. For this diameter, they recommend an oil clearance of approximately 0.055 to 0.066 mm, measured with a micrometer and bore gauge. If the crankshaft has been reground, the dimensions will change.
They do not have the final silver-tin plating of standard bearings, so their dark, brownish-black-bluish color is factory-standard and does not indicate any defect. ACL advises against polishing the bearing surface to adjust clearance; if more clearance is needed, they should be combined with the HX version, which provides an additional 0.025 mm of clearance.
