Description

ARP 204-4104 head studs are made for the Volkswagen 1.8L 20V Turbo (with assembly tool, M10). Replacing the factory bolts with studs helps keep the head gasket sealed when the engine is running with higher turbo pressure or higher compression.

They are manufactured from ARP2000, a proprietary alloy from ARP that reaches approximately 220,000 psi tensile strength and maintains its properties better at temperature than chrome-molybdenum. ARP grinds each stud after heat treatment to ensure it is straight and concentric, and rolls the threads at the end of the process; this achieves a fatigue strength about twenty times higher than that of a thread made before treatment.
