This ARP 151-4301 kit replaces the cylinder head bolts on the Ford 2.3L Ecoboost with studs. It is one of the first upgrades made to an engine being tuned for more power, as the head gasket is one of the first points of failure.
They are manufactured from 8740 chrome-moly steel, heat-treated by ARP themselves to a tensile strength of approximately 190,000 psi. Each stud is centerless ground after heat treatment to ensure it is perfectly concentric, allowing the gasket and cylinder head to seat in alignment, and the threads are rolled after heat treatment, which ARP states increases fatigue strength by a factor of twenty.
