ARP 201-4302 head studs are made for the BMW 325i / 328i E36 and 525i E34 (M50B25 and M52B28). Replacing the stock bolts with studs helps keep the head gasket sealed when the engine is running with higher turbo pressure or higher compression.
They are manufactured from ARP2000, a proprietary ARP alloy that reaches a tensile strength of about 220,000 psi and maintains its properties better at high temperatures than chrome moly. ARP grinds each stud after heat treatment to ensure it is straight and concentric, and rolls the threads at the end of the process; this achieves a fatigue strength about twenty times greater than that of a thread made before heat treatment.
