This ARP 201-4305 kit replaces the BMW 325i E30 and 525i E34 (M20B25) cylinder head bolts with studs. It is one of the first upgrades made to an engine that is going to have its power increased, as the head gasket is one of the first points to fail.
They are manufactured from ARP2000, an ARP-proprietary alloy that reaches a tensile strength of about 220,000 psi and maintains its properties better at high temperatures than chrome-moly. The threads are rolled after the heat treatment, which gives ARP studs superior fatigue resistance, and the final grinding ensures that the cylinder head and gasket seat in alignment during installation.
Follow the torque specifications and tightening sequence in the ARP instructions, which are calculated for their assembly lubricant; if using engine oil, the actual torque changes.
