The ARP 201-4602 head studs are made for the BMW M30 (3.0L and 3.4L). Replacing the stock bolts with studs helps keep the head gasket sealed when the engine is running with higher turbo pressure or higher compression.
They are manufactured from 8740 chrome-moly steel, heat-treated in-house by ARP to a tensile strength of approximately 190,000 psi. Each stud is centerless ground after heat treatment to ensure it is perfectly concentric, so the gasket and cylinder head slide on aligned, and the threads are rolled after heat treatment, which ARP states increases fatigue strength by a factor of twenty.
Use ARP assembly lubricant and their torque specifications, because with any other lubricant the load each part receives will not be the same. Before ordering, confirm your engine code; if you are not sure, we can help you check it.
