ARP head stud kit for the Toyota 20R and 22R, part number 203-4201. It replaces the stock head bolts with studs and nuts, a solution that distributes the load more effectively across the gasket and prevents wear on the block threads every time the cylinder head is removed.
They are manufactured from 8740 chromoly steel, heat-treated by ARP to a tensile strength of approximately 190,000 psi. Each stud is centerless ground after heat treatment to ensure it is perfectly concentric, allowing the gasket and cylinder head to slide on aligned, and the threads are rolled after heat treatment, which ARP states increases fatigue strength by twenty times.
