ARP 204-4207 head studs are made for the Audi 5 Cyl. 20V (standard studs). Replacing the factory bolts with studs helps keep the head gasket sealed when the engine is running higher turbo pressure or higher compression.
They are manufactured from 8740 chromoly steel, heat-treated in-house by ARP to a tensile strength of 190,000 psi. ARP grinds each stud after heat treatment to ensure it is straight and concentric, and rolls the threads at the end of the process; this achieves a fatigue strength about twenty times higher than a thread made before heat treatment.
