ARP 204-4301 head studs are made for the Porsche 944 3.0L DOHC - Water Cooling. Replacing the factory bolts with studs helps keep the head gasket sealed when the engine is running with higher turbo pressure or higher compression.
They are manufactured from 8740 chromoly steel, heat-treated in-house by ARP to a tensile strength of 190,000 psi. Each stud is centerless ground after heat treatment to ensure it is perfectly concentric, allowing the gasket and cylinder head to seat accurately, and the threads are rolled after heat treatment, which ARP states increases their fatigue strength by a factor of ten.
