Description

ARP head stud kit for the Volkswagen 2.8L and 2.9L VR6, part number 204-4705. Replaces the factory head bolts with studs and nuts, a solution that distributes the load better across the gasket and avoids wearing out the block threads every time the cylinder head is removed.

They are manufactured from 8740 chrome-moly steel, heat-treated in-house by ARP to a tensile strength of approximately 190,000 psi. ARP precision-grinds each stud after heat treatment to ensure it is straight and concentric, and rolls the threads after the heat treatment process; this results in fatigue strength up to twenty times greater than threads cut before treatment.

Use ARP assembly lubricant and their specified torque values, as using a different lubricant will result in different preload values for the parts. If you are unsure if this is the correct part number for your engine, please write to us with your engine code and year.
