ARP cylinder head stud kit for Mazda MX-5 1.6L (B6) and 1.8L (BP), part number 218-4701. It replaces the stock head bolts with studs and nuts, a solution that distributes the load better across the gasket and does not wear out the block threads every time the cylinder head is removed.
They are manufactured from 8740 chrome-moly steel, heat-treated in-house by ARP to a tensile strength of approximately 190,000 psi. The threads are rolled after heat treatment, which is what gives ARP studs superior fatigue strength, and the final grinding ensures that the head and gasket seat in alignment during assembly.
