Description

ARP cylinder head stud kit for the GM 2.2L Ecotec, part number 231-4701. It replaces the stock head bolts with studs and nuts, a solution that distributes the load better across the gasket and avoids damaging the block threads every time the cylinder head is removed.

They are manufactured from 8740 chrome-moly steel, heat-treated in-house by ARP to a tensile strength of approximately 190,000 psi. ARP grinds each stud after heat treatment to ensure it is straight and concentric, and rolls the threads at the end of the process; this achieves a fatigue strength about twenty times greater than that of a thread cut before heat treatment.

Follow the torque specifications and tightening sequence in the ARP instructions, which are calculated for their assembly lubricant; using engine oil will change the actual torque. Before ordering, confirm your engine code; if you are unsure, we can help you verify it.
