ARP cylinder head stud kit for Chevrolet LS (2003 and earlier), part number 234-4344. Replaces factory cylinder head bolts with studs and nuts, a solution that better distributes the load across the gasket and does not wear out the engine block threads every time the cylinder head is removed.
They are manufactured from ARP2000, an ARP-proprietary alloy that reaches approximately 220,000 psi of tensile strength and maintains its properties better at high temperatures than chrome-moly. Each stud is centerless-ground after heat treatment to be perfectly concentric, ensuring the gasket and cylinder head are properly aligned, and the threads are rolled after heat treatment, which ARP states increases fatigue strength by twenty times.
Follow the torque specifications and tightening sequence in the ARP instructions, which are calculated for their assembly lubricant; using motor oil will change the actual torque.
