ARP 206-5402 main studs are for the BMC B-Series (3 studs) and replace the stock main bearing cap bolts.
Their function is to prevent the main caps from shifting or rubbing against the block at high RPMs, and they also protect the block threads. They come with their own hardened and ground nuts and washers. ARP manufactures them from 8740 chrome-moly steel heat-treated to 190,000 psi, with threads rolled after heat treatment.
Tighten following ARP's sequence and torque values and using their assembly lubricant, as the specified torque settings are designed for it. If you have any questions about whether this is the correct part number for your engine, write to us with the engine code and year.
