With this ARP 216-5401 kit, the Renault F4R main caps are secured with studs instead of bolts.
With studs, the caps do not shift or rub against the block when the engine is under high load, and the block threads are no longer subjected to wear with every assembly. The kit includes hardened and ground nuts and washers. ARP manufactures them from 8740 chrome-moly steel heat-treated to 190,000 psi, with the threads rolled after heat treatment.
Follow the torque specifications and tightening sequence in the ARP instructions, which are calculated for their assembly lubricant; with engine oil, the actual clamping force changes.
