ARP 104-6004 connecting rod bolt kit for Volkswagen 1.8L 8v 16v 20v T and 2L 8v 16v Water Cooling engines. In a connecting rod, the first thing to fail when the engine increases in RPM or power is the bolt, and ARP is the benchmark for this part.
ARP recommends installing them by checking the stretch, between 0.0085 and 0.0090 inches, with a guide torque of 35 lb-ft (approx. 47 Nm) using their lubricant. It is advisable to measure the stretch of each bolt and replace it if it has permanently stretched more than one thousandth of an inch.
