Description

The ARP 118-6401 connecting rod bolts are for the Mazda MX-5 1.6L (B6) and 1.8L (BP). Changing them is almost mandatory when opening an engine that will be running with more power, because the stock bolt is the first thing to fail.

ARP recommends installing them by checking the stretch, between 0.0060 and 0.0065 inches, with a reference torque of 38 lb-ft (about 52 Nm) using their lubricant. It is advisable to measure the stretch of each bolt and replace it if it has been permanently stretched by more than one thousandth of an inch.

Respect the torque and tightening sequence in the ARP instructions, which are calculated for their assembly lubricant; with engine oil, the actual tightening changes. Not sure about your engine version? Send us the code and we will confirm the part number.
