Description

The BR Series is the entry point to BC Racing coilovers and the one that ends up being fitted to the most cars. Each application is developed by testing the actual vehicle until reaching a point that is equally convincing for daily driving as it is when pushing it during a track session. Inside, it features a 46mm piston within a 53mm body, more generous than usual in this range: with more oil, the temperature rises slowly and the damping retains its character for longer. It is adjustable with 30 positions that act simultaneously on both compression and rebound.

Complete kit for all four wheels of the BMW E36 Compact RWD (94-00)(). It uses an integrated rear configuration: in the rear, the spring and shock absorber form a single unit instead of being separate as in the stock equipment, which allows the rear ride height to be adjusted directly on the shock absorber. Weighs 23 kg. Manufacturer part number I-79-BR-RH.

Equipped with pillowball top mounts on both axles. The front axle allows for camber and caster adjustment, something not available in all applications. Ride height is adjusted independently of spring preload, and the tapered bottom collar prevents the adjustment from shifting with use. Includes dust covers to protect the seals and a 1-year warranty against manufacturing defects.

There are 12 stiffness combinations available, including E30 top mount configurations. The one BC Racing defines as the default for this car is 5/5 kg/mm.

Before you buy

Before installation, the chassis must be reinforced in the area of the rear mounting points. The integrated assembly introduces loads that the original setup distributed differently, and BC Racing makes the validity of the kit conditional on this work being done. This is a task for a specialized workshop and it should be factored into the budget.

The front pillowball top mounts are a rigid attachment, without an elastic element, and in some chassis, they transmit a slight knocking sound to the cabin. This does not indicate a defect, and BC Racing does not cover it under warranty nor accept returns for this reason. Configurations with rubber top mounts avoid this effect.
