The HM Series combines in a single kit what BC Racing distributes across two other series. From the RM, it takes the inverted monotube shock absorber, and from the ER, the ability to adjust compression and rebound separately. Compression is adjusted via 30 clicks from the external reservoirs, and rebound via another 30 from the bottom of the shock. It comes standard with Swift springs and allows for significant customization.
In cars with front McPherson struts, such as the M3, the shocks are inverted and connect to their reservoirs via braided steel lines that exit from the top. These reservoirs perform several functions at once: they hold more oil, provide better cooling, and house the second piston of a linear dual-piston design. In long track sessions, this translates into damping that does not change character when others begin to heat up and lose firmness.
The 6 kg/mm front and 9 kg/mm rear Swift springs are the stiffness BC Racing recommends for this car and the only configuration in which this part number is supplied. The brand defines this by testing the vehicle and adjusting the spring, ride height, and damping as a set.
Application specific to the rear-wheel-drive BMW M3 E46 Convertible, model years 2000 to 2006. Includes camber plates on both axles, height-adjustable without altering spring preload, and a 1-year warranty against manufacturing defects. It is fully rebuildable.
