BC Racing RM Series BMW 3 Series E93 Convertible RWD (05-11)
€1.499,19
The RM Series features an inverted monotube shock absorber, with the oil and gas reservoir at the top, mounted to the vehicle body. This configuration reduces unsprung weight, allowing the tire to track the asphalt better and preventing bouncing on broken surfaces. It also keeps the oil away from the heat of the brakes, which, during intense use, travels through the hub and can soften the damping. The 42mm piston rod adds resistance to lateral loads and keeps the steering geometry stable.
Complete kit for all four wheels of the BMW 3 Series E93 Convertible RWD (05-11). Weighs 23 kg. Manufacturer reference I-17-RM-MA.
The front features an inverted shock absorber with a camber-adjustable pillowball top mount, while the rear uses rubber top mounts or no top mounts, depending on the application. The front axle supports camber and caster adjustment, which is not available in all applications. Ride height is adjusted independently of spring preload, and a conical lower locking collar prevents the setting from shifting with use. Includes dust boots to protect the seals and a 1-year warranty against manufacturing defects.
There are 2 stiffness combinations available. The one BC Racing defines as default for this car is 5.5/10 kg/mm.
Before you buy
The shock absorber is a cartridge housed inside a threaded body, with grease between the two parts to prevent metal-to-metal contact. This must be cleaned and reapplied periodically to prevent noise; it is a simple maintenance task that does not require opening or repressurizing the shock. For this reason, BC Racing targets this series for track use and recommends the BR, DS, ER, or ZX series for daily-driven cars.
The front pillowball top mounts are a rigid mounting point with no elastic element, and in some body styles, they may transmit a slight knocking sound into the cabin. This does not indicate a defect, and BC Racing does not cover it under warranty nor accept returns for this reason. Configurations with rubber top mounts avoid this effect.
