Inverting the shock absorber is what sets the RM Series apart. With the oil and gas reservoir anchored to the body instead of the hub, unsprung mass is reduced: the wheel responds more quickly to every irregularity and maintains better contact with the ground. That same position protects the oil from the heat generated by the brakes, so the damping holds up just as well on the last lap as it does on the first. It features a 42mm shaft, which is more resistant to lateral stress.

The front features an inverted shock absorber with a pillowball top mount adjustable for camber, and the rear features rubber top mounts or no top mount, depending on the application. The front axle allows for camber adjustment. The ride height is adjusted independently of the spring preload, and the tapered lower locking collar prevents the setting from shifting with use. Includes dust covers to protect the seals and a 1-year warranty against manufacturing defects.
There are 4 spring rate combinations available. The one BC Racing defines as default for this car is 5/4.5 kg/mm.
Before buying
The shock absorber is a cartridge housed inside a threaded body, and a grease is applied between both parts to prevent metal-to-metal contact. It must be cleaned and reapplied periodically to prevent noise; this is simple maintenance that does not require opening or repressurizing the shock absorber. For this reason, BC Racing targets this series at the track and recommends the BR, DS, ER, or ZX for a daily-driven car.
The front pillowball top mounts are a rigid anchor, without an elastic element, and in some body styles they transmit a slight knocking sound to the cabin. This does not indicate a defect, and BC Racing does not cover it under warranty or accept returns for this reason. Configurations with rubber top mounts avoid this effect.
