BC Racing RM Series BMW 7 Series E38 RWD (94-01) (Sedan)
€1.499,19
The RM Series features an inverted monotube shock absorber, with the oil and gas reservoir at the top and secured to the bodywork. This configuration lightens the unsprung mass, allowing the tire to better track the asphalt and stop bouncing on rough surfaces. It also keeps the oil away from the heat of the brakes, which, during intense use, travels through the hub and ends up softening the damping. The 42 mm piston rod adds resistance to lateral loads and keeps steering geometry stable.
Complete kit for all four wheels of the BMW 7 Series E38 RWD (94-01) (Sedan). Weighs 23 kg. Manufacturer reference I-23-RM-MA.
The front features an inverted shock absorber with a camber-adjustable pillowball mount, and the rear features rubber mounts or no mounts, depending on the application. The front axle supports camber adjustment. Ride height is adjusted independently of spring preload, and the tapered bottom collar prevents the setting from shifting with use. Includes dust covers to protect the seals and a 1-year warranty against manufacturing defects.
Supplied with a single spring rate, 9/6 kg/mm.
Before buying
The shock absorber is a cartridge housed inside a threaded body, and there is grease between the two parts that prevents metal-to-metal contact. It must be cleaned and reapplied periodically to prevent noise; this is simple maintenance that does not require opening or repressurizing the shock absorber. For this reason, BC Racing targets this series for track use and recommends BR, DS, ER, or ZX for a daily-driven car.
The front pillowball mounts are a rigid anchor, without an elastic element, and in some body styles, they transmit a slight knocking sound to the cabin. This does not indicate a defect, and BC Racing does not cover it under warranty nor accept returns for this reason. Configurations with rubber mounts avoid this effect.
