Description

The RM Series features an inverted monotube shock absorber, with the oil and gas reservoir at the top, mounted to the bodywork. This arrangement reduces unsprung weight, allowing the tire to track the asphalt better and stop bouncing on rough surfaces. It also keeps the oil away from the heat of the brakes, which can travel up through the hub during intense use and eventually soften the damping. The 42 mm piston rod adds resistance to lateral loads and keeps the steering geometry stable.

Complete kit for all four wheels of the Ford FOCUS MK2 (04-11) (INC ST). Weighs 23 kg. Manufacturer reference E-06-RM-MA.

The front features an inverted shock absorber with a camber-adjustable pillowball top mount, and the rear features rubber top mounts or no top mount, depending on the application. The front axle supports camber adjustment. Ride height is adjusted independently of spring preload, and the tapered bottom locking collar prevents the setting from shifting with use. Includes dust covers to protect the seals and a 1-year warranty against manufacturing defects.

There are 2 stiffness combinations available. The one BC Racing defines as default for this car is 6/5.5 kg/mm.

Before you buy

The shock absorber is a cartridge housed inside a threaded body, and there is grease between both parts to prevent metal-on-metal contact. It must be cleaned and reapplied periodically to avoid noise; it is a simple maintenance procedure that does not require opening or re-pressurizing the shock absorber. For this reason, BC Racing positions this series for track use and recommends the BR, DS, ER, or ZX series for a daily-driven car.

The front pillowball top mounts are a rigid attachment, without an elastic element, and in some body styles, they transmit a slight knocking sound to the cabin. This does not indicate a defect, and BC Racing does not cover it under warranty nor accept returns for this reason. Configurations with rubber top mounts avoid this effect.
