Description

The RM Series features an inverted monotube shock absorber, with the oil and gas reservoir at the top, fixed to the body. This arrangement reduces unsprung weight, allowing the tire to better track the asphalt and stop bouncing on uneven surfaces. It also keeps the oil away from brake heat, which can travel through the hub during intense use and soften the damping. The 42mm piston rod adds resistance to lateral loads and keeps the steering geometry stable.

Complete kit for all four wheels of the Honda CIVIC FN2 (06-10) (TYPE-R) (EU MODELS). Weighs 23 kg. Manufacturer part number A-40-RM-MA.

The front features an inverted shock absorber with a camber-adjustable pillowball upper mount, while the rear uses rubber upper mounts or no mount, depending on the application. The front axle supports camber adjustment. Ride height is adjusted independently of spring preload, and the tapered bottom collar prevents the setting from shifting with use. Includes dust covers to protect the seals and a 1-year warranty against manufacturing defects.

There are 4 spring rate combinations available. The one BC Racing defines as default for this car is 6/5 kg/mm.

Before you buy

The shock absorber is a cartridge housed inside a threaded body, with grease between the two parts to prevent metal-on-metal contact. This must be cleaned and reapplied periodically to avoid noise; it is a simple maintenance task that does not require opening or repressurizing the shock. For this reason, BC Racing positions this series for track use and recommends the BR, DS, ER, or ZX for a daily-driven car.

The front pillowball upper mounts are a rigid attachment without elastic elements, and in some vehicles, they may transmit slight tapping into the cabin. This does not indicate a defect, and BC Racing does not cover it under warranty nor accept returns for this reason. Configurations with rubber upper mounts avoid this effect.
