How to choose the heat range
In the part number, the letters indicate the shape and thread of the spark plug, and the number (from 6 to 9) indicates the heat range. The higher the number, the colder the spark plug is and the better it evacuates heat from the combustion chamber, which is necessary for tuned, turbocharged, or track-use engines because it reduces the risk of detonation.
Only install a colder spark plug if your engine requires it. If the heat range is too cold, it may be difficult to start in cold weather and the idle may be irregular. When using E85 ethanol, it is also not advisable to lower the heat range.
